Vignette Content Management Powering eGovernment Initiatives for State Of Georgia
Vignette Is Helping Georgia Deliver Government Services and Information Via Leading-Edge Portal
AUSTIN, Texas, March 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Vignette Corp. (Nasdaq: VIGN – News) today announced that the state of Georgia is using Vignette® content management solutions for its recently launched statewide portal, http://www.georgia.gov/ . This ambitious portal initiative was spearheaded by Georgia Technology Authority (GTA), an organization created by the Georgia Legislature. One of GTA’s goals is to enable constituents to do business with government easily and efficiently.
When developing plans for the portal, GTA began with a core objective of presenting easy-to-understand, intention-based information and services using a common taxonomy and design across all state agencies. To help meet this objective, GTA selected Vignette content management solutions for their ability to manage the entire content lifecycle and empower individual agencies and content owners to easily manage content using familiar desktop productivity tools. The new state of Georgia portal features a new look and feel with menus that guide users to frequently requested information.
Vignette content management solutions help Georgia make information and services available online while fostering critical cross-agency collaboration and information-sharing. In addition, Vignette’s capabilities for personalization enable the state portal to provide information that is targeted and highly relevant to portal visitors, helping to build solid relationships with citizens and other audiences. State agencies have started designing their sites within the georgia.gov portal environment, making the multisite management capabilities in Vignette critical to its portal development and maintenance plans.
«Vignette content management solutions are helping the state of Georgia meet the needs of our constituents by providing the technology necessary to build an engaging portal in support of more accessible and responsive government,» said Gina Tiedemann, director of GTA’s GeorgiaNet division.
«The state of Georgia has a compelling vision for the future of eGovernment and is well on its way to becoming a leader among its peers,» said Nolan Rosen, vice president of worldwide marketing at Vignette. «Vignette, combined with offerings from leading vendors like Sun Microsystems and Oracle, is helping provide the framework and infrastructure that will enable Georgia to grow its eGovernment offerings to provide 24×7 services and relevant information to all Georgians.»
Vignette content management solutions are deployed in tandem with the Sun platform, which is the foundation for the state’s infrastructure. Longtime partners, Vignette and Sun Microsystems Inc. have worked together to help the state deliver online services securely, thereby improving quality of service.
«Georgia’s IT organization was one of the first to recognize the benefits Web-based interactions have to offer, from streamlined information delivery to improved communications, and has subsequently become a leader in eGovernment,» said John Leahy, chief of staff, Sun Federal. «Sun is pleased to have worked with Vignette on a combined solution that enables Georgia to provide secure access to disparate services and information resources for its constituents.»
