Will Enable Dutch Publisher to Scale And Manage for Future Visitor Growth

AUSTIN, Texas, March 24 / — Vignette Corp. (Nasdaq: VIGN – News) today announced that Wegener eMedia, a subsidiary of leading Dutch publisher Wegener, has implemented Vignette® content management solutions. The Vignette solutions provide Wegener eMedia with the flexibility and scalability to address current demands and future growth of its sites and other future Web initiatives. In addition, Vignette’s caching capability will provide Wegener with a more robust and stable solution to deal with enormous visitor peaks when news events occur.

Wegener publishes 17 regional dailies online, including Brabants Dagblad, Haagsche Courant and Utrechts Dagblad, and the job vacancy site JobTrack.nl, which will now all run on Vignette content management.

«We work with vast amounts of information. We chose to migrate to Vignette content management because we needed a reliable solution that would enable us to manage this vast amount of information with minimal effort,» said Henk Janssen, director of ICT at Wegener eMedia. «During our five-year relationship with Vignette, it has proved it can offer an extremely robust and stable product, with good support.»

During 2002, Wegener’s online regional dailies received more than 11 million page views per month, a growth of 53 percent from 2001. JobTrack’s number of online visitors also doubled during this period, from 155,000 unique visitors per month to 320,000. «We have been able to deal with this growth, but more important, we have also been able to handle enormous peaks in the number of visitors during important news events,» Janssen said. «We have always been able to keep our sites up and running in those situations, and this is largely thanks to Vignette.»

Vignette was originally selected because it enabled Wegener journalists to quickly publish and edit news to the site without the need for IT intervention. In the future, Vignette’s updated content management will play an important role in increasing the revenues from Wegener eMedia’s online initiatives.

«Wegener eMedia has been a valued customer of Vignette in the Netherlands for over five years,» said Tim Wort, vice president and general manager of EMEA at Vignette. «Vignette offers Wegener eMedia the ability to scale its online initiatives to current and future needs and increase reader satisfaction and employee productivity, while providing opportunities for new revenue streams.»
