Information Builders (www.informationbuilders.es), especialist in business intelligence (BI) and analytics, information integrity and integration solutions, today announced that customer Scott Skellenger, chief information officer, RainTree Oncology Services (www.raintreeoncology.com), was named the Top CIO Leader in Ventana Research’s Business Technology Leadership Awards. Skellenger was recognized for his leadership role in harnessing self-service data tools to provide pharmaceutical companies unprecedented decision support and clinical pattern discovery to improve cancer research.
RainTree Oncology Services is a leading community oncology alliance that assists its member practices in delivering better and more cost-effective cancer treatments. As part of that ongoing effort, Skellenger worked with Information Builders to develop a cloud-based analytics portal called OncoExplorer. This portal equips pharmaceutical organizations with the ability to analyze key clinical and administrative data, such as medications, pharmacy dispensing rates, and claims adjudication summaries, enabling subscribers to identify clinical patterns and patient treatment paths.
RainTree leveraged Information Builders’ iWay Integration Suite to build the OncoExplorer patient index, as well as the company’s flagship WebFOCUS BI and analytics platform to create a portal presentation layer and analytics workbench. The combination of solutions helped RainTree develop a best-in-class technology platform that transforms clinical oncology data into actionable information.
“In today’s healthcare organizations, users of all levels are looking for ways to better utilize and glean insights from the influx of patient data stemming from a myriad of disparate sources,” said Mark Smith, CEO and chief research officer, Ventana Research. “With this award, we’re recognizing RainTree Oncology Services leadership, through use of Information Builders, to realize the power of information as an asset to help hospitals, doctors and even patients.”
“Our OncoExplorer portal would not have been possible without the support of Information Builders and its flexible, intuitive, and easy-to-use iWay and WebFOCUS products,” said Scott Skellenger, CIO, RainTree Oncology Services. “This recognition from Ventana Research speaks to the team effort demonstrated by the RainTree Analytics team in collaboration with Information Builders to share the power of self-service data analytics with our customers.”
“The healthcare industry has been inundated with patient data in recent years, and it is the efforts of organizations like RainTree Oncology Services and people like Scott Skellenger who are helping to harness that data and put it to use for the good of others,” said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO of Information Builders, “This honor by Ventana Research validates the importance of RainTree’s work in improving treatment research for cancer patients, and Information Builders is proud to be supporting such a valuable initiative.”
