IBM today announced that QVC, one of the largest multimedia retailers in the world, has selected the IBM Netezza TwinFin appliance to analyze user-generated content from its web forums.
“We chose the IBM Netezza TwinFin appliance because of its ability to rapidly execute a broad set of analytics across large volumes of data quickly and cost effectively,” said Rosetta Gyimesi, QVC’s vice president of application services. “TwinFin provides us with the simplicity and performance to achieve a greater understanding of customer needs and preferences based on the online conversations they are having about our products and services.”
The IBM Netezza TwinFin appliance is built specifically to analyze petabytes of detailed data significantly faster than existing data warehouse options, and at a much lower total cost of ownership. It stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query.
“As a retailer with robust sales and customer communications, QVC wants to know what’s on the minds of its customers at any given moment,” said Jim Kelly, vice president, Retail & CPG, Netezza. “We are excited for this opportunity to provide a global brand such as QVC with a fast and powerful way to understand its customers better through user-generated content.”
