Mahou compró San Miguel en el año 2000, convirtiendose en el segundo fabricante de cerveza de España. En San Miguel utilizaban ya el Hyperion Essbase y la consultora francesa Decisionnel lo comenzó a implementar para la empresa en su conjunto.

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 12– Hyperion , the global leader in Business Performance Management software, today announced that leading Spanish beer producer Mahou-San Miguel chose Hyperion Essbase to integrate its information processes and systems. Hyperion’s software enables the group’s executives and managers to access financial and business information as well as analyze critical success factors.
Mahou acquired San Miguel at the end of 2000 and consequently became the second largest producer of beer in Spain. Mahou then needed a business intelligence system that could fulfill the group’s new real-time reporting and analytical needs. The company worked with French consulting firm Decisionnel to implement Hyperion Essbase-already in use at San Miguel — in all the group’s branches to optimize decision-making and reporting processes. Hyperion Essbase provides access to financial data through the use of an information portal that personalizes data on the screen according to each user’s needs. This way, management and operations staff can access information from a single centralized database that combines financial, commercial and marketing data.
«Integration was critical for our group and we could not afford to have a fragmented vision or different information sources for each department,» said Mariano Navarro, management control manager for Mahou-San Miguel. «Because Hyperion’s analytic platform had worked perfectly for San Miguel, we decided to adopt it ourselves in order to centralize data and gain analysis capabilities that would improve decision-making and management.»
Hyperion Essbase provides Mahou-San Miguel with multidimensional, intuitive navigation through a Web-based interface as well as fast and consistent response times in client-server environments and centralized databases.
Mahou-San Miguel is the major national beer exporting company in Spain, with a business volume of euro 670 million in 2002. The group’s brands include Mahou 5 Estrellas, San Miguel, Laiker and San Miguel 0,0%.
