La Unidad anti-fraude fiscal USA utiliza Captiva para digitalizar miles de documentos desestructurados

NOTA DE PRENSA DE CAPTIVA USA

SAN DIEGO, CA, August 17. Captiva Software Corporation , a provider of input management solutions, today announced that the Internal Revenue Services Criminal Investigation (IRS CI) unit, the law enforcement arm of the IRS, has selected InputAccel, Captivas flagship document capture solution, and FormWare, Captivas award-winning forms processing solution, to create a comprehensive system to streamline the capture and processing of documents used in criminal tax evasion cases. The IRS CI anticipates using the software to speed the processing and analysis of paper evidentiary material, such as receipts, correspondence, cancelled checks and other documents, enabling the agency to prosecute cases more quickly. The value of the contract to Captiva is in excess of $300,000.

The IRS CI needed a solution that would be able to capture and process any type of document structured or unstructured the unit may encounter during an investigation and be easily integrated with other enterprise software packages, said Howard Dratler, Captivas Executive Vice President of Field Operations. Were pleased to offer this new customer a complete solution that meets all its system requirements. In fact, the analysis conducted by the IRS CI concluded that Captiva was the only vendor that was capable of meeting its extensive needs.

Since the majority of information to be processed is unstructured paper documents, InputAccel will serve as the backbone for the system, while a FormWare sub-system will be incorporated to process structured documents and forms. In addition to streamlining the IRS CIs document processing capabilities, the new solution is expected to minimize labor and human intervention and allow a significant cost savings to the agency.

InputAccel transforms mission-critical data from paper and faxes into business-ready digital content. FormWare manages business-critical information from forms, documents and transactions into enterprise systems. By delivering accurate, timely and usable data, InputAccel and FormWare offer users reduced operational costs, improved information quality and accelerated business processes.

About IRS Criminal Investigation

IRS Criminal Investigation (CI) is comprised of approximately 2,900 special agents whose investigative jurisdiction includes tax, money laundering and Bank Secrecy Act laws. While other federal agencies also have investigative jurisdiction for money laundering and some bank secrecy act violations, IRS is the only federal agency that can investigate potential criminal violations of the Internal Revenue Code. CI’s top priority is the investigation of violations of the tax law. However, CI special agents lend their financial investigative expertise to money laundering and narcotics investigations conducted in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies at the local, state and federal levels.
