La Seguridad Social británica utiliza Autonomy para Gestión del Conocimiento

NOTA DE PRENSA AUTONOMY USA

CAMBRIDGE, England, June 2 — Autonomy Corporation plc, a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that the UK’s National Patient Safety Agency, the Special Health Authority created to improve the safety of NHS patients by promoting a culture of learning and reporting from patient safety incidents, has selected Autonomy to power the analysis behind its advanced incident reporting system the National Reporting and Learning System (NRLS).

With an estimated 1.4 million patient safety incidents a year in hospitals, there is a recognized need for the NHS to learn from previous errors and systems failures. The National Patient Safety Agency’s deployment of Autonomy represents their strong commitment to monitor and understand patient safety and find effective solutions to prevent harm.

Autonomy will dramatically increase the Agency’s effectiveness by automatically aggregating and clustering incident reports from NHS organisations across England and Wales. This will offer NPSA analysts an unprecedented level of visibility into the types and frequency of Patient Safety Incidents by automatically forming a conceptual and contextual understanding of reports from over 600 NHS organizations.

Clive Flashman, Head of Knowledge and Information Management at the National Patient Safety Agency said, «Autonomy enables us to dramatically increase the rate at which we can analyse reported incidents. Moreover, Autonomy’s intuitive technology forms associations between documents to allow us to discover ‘the unknown’ by automatically forming intelligent connections between documents and highlighting potential correlations. By performing these labor intensive tasks automatically, Autonomy enables our statistical analysts to draw conclusions about emerging trends and more easily communicate this swiftly to the relevant Directorates within the Agency who can initiate preventative action and provide recommendations to minimize risks.»

«In such a fast moving and pressurised environment as health care, it is an unfortunate fact that errors are made. What matters, however, is how an organization learns from its mistakes and adjusts procedures accordingly» said Dominic Johnson, Group Marketing Director, Autonomy. «We are pleased to be providing the information infrastructure to support the NPSA in its work to identify high impact incidents and respond appropriately. Through their deployment of Autonomy, the NPSA is able to offer a high level of awareness and comprehensive analysis of all reports which will enable the NHS to better target patient safety problems and maximize learning from things that go wrong.»

Autonomy’s unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy’s software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy’s technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy’s infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
