BURLINGTON, Mass., April 19 –The United States Marine Corps has selected an enterprise business intelligence (BI) solution from Cognos, the world leader in BI and corporate performance management solutions. The U.S. Marine Corps has purchased Cognos ReportNet and will integrate the solution into the Total Forces Administration System (TFAS) to enable approximately 225,000 active duty and active reserve personnel to access and report on personnel and payroll data.
The U.S. Marine Corps needed a powerful reporting solution to make the information in TFAS, an award-winning, online personnel system, accessible to Marine Corps personnel globally. The focus of the TFAS system is to improve the existing system quality by automating the personnel administration function, increasing the individual accessibility to data and promoting self- service. TFAS can provide the typical Marine access to personal records such as payroll, performance evaluations, assignments, etc. via telephone and Internet connection – from anywhere in the world 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To meet the Intranet reporting challenge, the Marine Corps, a long- standing Cognos customer, selected Cognos ReportNet.
