More than 5 million people attended the giant soccer (football) events of FIFA World Cup and Confederation Cup in Brazil in 2013 and 2014 respectively (approximately 1,000,000 for the Confederation Cup and 4,000,000 for the World Cup). Due to the large scale in attendees, FIFA was interested in adopting the most innovative and secure technology, including a form of tech which could be used for more than just access to the stadiums but also as a marketing tool or e-wallet. This mandate pushed FIFA to investigate and ask for RFID-based (Radio Frequency Identification) products, without forgetting the traditional security features and a high-end graphic quality for the end product.
