Indiana University Hospitals Turn to McKesson’s Latest Electronic Document Management Release to Optimize Service Quality

Horizon Patient Folder features robust document management and document imaging capabilities that can help providers electronically capture, index and complete the electronic medical record using a single platform. The new release offers greater portability of patient data and automation of the claims submission process. The result – customers are better able to optimize reimbursements, streamline workflow and improve coding accuracy rates.

“Horizon Patient Folder offers the flexibility we need to successfully navigate increasingly complex regulations while continuing to run our business,” said Rob Hood, project manager, IU Health Bloomington. “McKesson has successfully brought us through the implementation without interruption, and we feel prepared to meet the upcoming ICD-10 and ANSI 5010 requirements.”

In addition to supporting the new federal standards on reimbursements, Horizon Patient Folder is certified on Stage 1 criteria for meaningful use. Providers using the solution can grant secure patient access to the medical record, including diagnostic test results, medication lists and procedures. In addition to empowering patients with information to take more active roles in their healthcare, organizations can use the solution as part of their strategy to improve overall patient satisfaction.

“With McKesson, we have peace of mind knowing that we have a trusted partner to help us stay ahead of the curve with our technology and compliance initiatives so we can continue to provide the best care possible to our patient community,” said Mark McMath, vice president & CIO, IU Health Bloomington.

Horizon Patient Folder leverages document imaging software that gives physicians, health information management personnel and other hospital staff anytime, anywhere access to patient data. The solution is designed to help providers improve patient service and bottom line results through a shortened accounts receivables cycle, cost savings and operational efficiencies.

“Never before has government regulation played such a significant role in shaping healthcare,” said Kevan Torgerson, president, Enterprise Medical Imaging, McKesson Provider Technologies. “We’re proud to help progressive organizations like IU Health Bloomington and IU Health Paoli Hospital that are leading the charge to advance care delivery and service through the use of IT. Our solutions will help them not only meet their compliance needs but also evolve their operations to achieve even better health outcomes.”
