Seybold Seminars, Publications and Consulting Announces Keynote Speakers and Content Agenda for Amsterdam 2003 Conference

Inaugural European Conference Focuses on PDF, JDF and Content Management

    The producers of Seybold Seminars, Publications and Consulting announced today that James King of Adobe, and Bjorn Zitting of IKEA Catalogue Services AB will be the keynote speakers at the PDF Summit, a two-day anchor event within the Seybold Seminars Amsterdam 2003 conference. The conference and pavilion will be held June 11-13, 2003 at the RAI Centre in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
    The Seybold Seminars Amsterdam 2003 event marks an important step in the «Seybold 365» strategy of providing a year-round community for all things publishing. «The international community has made very clear that Seybold Seminars, Publications and Consulting needs to have a face-to-face platform in the European market,» said James Smith, General Manager of Seybold Seminars, Publications & Consulting. «We have focused on PDF,
JDF and content management in the Publishing
and Cross Media space and developed numerous local partnerships. Our strategy is to combine efforts with our partners to showcase the current implementation of these technologies and the future vision and application to the business enterprise.»
    James C. King, principal scientist at Adobe Systems, will address the challenges faced and achievements met by both Acrobat and PDF over the past 10 years. Mr. King was instrumental in crafting the vision, architecture, design, prototyping, and ultimate development of new products and features for existing Adobe products. A portion of his keynote will shed light on his vision of the future of Acrobat and PDF.
    Bjorn Zitting, Development Manager at IKEA Catalogue Services AB, will discuss the once-a-year prepress production of over 110 million catalogs in 45 editions and 20 languages for 32 countries. Mr. Zitting will also impart his long-term vision of how file formats, design and prepress applications, and prepress responsibilities must adapt to meet ever-increasing requirements to improve efficiencies in multi-national publishing environments.

    The Seybold Seminars Amsterdam 2003 Conference program is comprised of three segments:

    The Seybold-Gilbane Content Management Intensive, taking place Wednesday, June 11, 2003 is presented by Frank Gilbane, editor of «The Gilbane Report.» This Content Management Intensive provides a quick start for IT strategists, project managers, and business line managers who need to make critical decisions about planning, implementing, or retooling strategies for managing content.
    The Seybold CIP4 JDF Intensive, taking place on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 will be available to all attendees at the Seybold PDF Summit. Speakers will discuss how JDF is designed to streamline information exchange between different applications and systems; demonstrate how JDF is intended to enable the entire industry to implement and work with individual workflow solutions; and reveal how JDF will allow integration of heterogeneous products from diverse vendors to seamless workflow solutions. The program presenter is Margaret Motamed, director of product planning at EFI and Chief Marketing Officer for CIP4.
