Vignette Powers Expopage, Fiera di Milano’s Online Marketplace

The Milan Trade Fair’s Internet Services Company Uses Industry-Leading Portal
Solution to Develop Italy’s First Tradeshow-Based Online Marketplace

AUSTIN, Texas–Nov. 13, 2003– Vignette Corp. today announced that Expopage,
Fiera di Milano’s marketplace, has selected Vignette as the portal framework for
its online service http://www.expopage.net/. The portal is the first online
tradeshow-based marketplace to be launched in Italy and enables exhibitors and
visitors to meet and exchange information.

Expopage.net works to increase business opportunities for trade fair exhibitors.
All companies participating in a trade fair can place a «virtual
stand» alongside their real stand. The «virtual stand» is a
self-managed online showcase where organizations can publish text, images, audio
and video material, catalogs and information such as news and events, product
and service offers, and business partner details. The virtual stand operates
24×7 all year round and makes it possible to maximize contacts made at the fair
and attract new ones online.

All Fiera di Milano exhibitors can also be found on the Expopage site, which can
be searched by company name, brands, products, goods categories and other areas
of interest. It offers all tradeshow visitors the chance to plan their trip in
advance, including the opportunity to book appointments online before events.
More than 25,000 participants representing more than 11,000 product categories
in 40 events are already featured on Expopage, which has been up and running
since September 2002.

Expopage selected Vignette because of its proven scalability and stability,
which will enable the company to meet current and future business needs. The
solution’s out-of-the box capability significantly cut rollout times and enabled
the portal to be rapidly and easily deployed in under nine months. The portal
will also enable Expopage to quickly launch new Web-based services to meet
business requirements. Secure access, multi-language capabilities and open
standards support were also important considerations in the selection process.

«We chose Vignette as our portal platform over other solutions because of
its high level of scalability,» said Ettore Galasso, project director for
Expopage. «During the project implementation Vignette fully met our high
expectations and in our view is the only solution that can meet our future plans
to expand the online marketplace’s functions and provide new additional
services.»

«Expopage is leveraging Vignette to help increase customer satisfaction
with both its tradeshow exhibitors and visitors by offering a similar quality of
service online and offline,» said Gonzalo Usandizaga, vice president and
general manager of EMEA Vignette. «As its business needs grow and expand,
Vignette will be able to provide the scalability, flexibility and rapid
deployment of services to meet Expopage’s business needs.»
