NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 10 — At Momentum, the Documentum User Conference, Documentum, the leading provider of enterprise content management (ECM), today announced certifications and integrations of Documentum 5, the latest version of the company’s ECM platform, with BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1, an integrated platform that provides superior business integration through the convergence of application development and integration.
The certification of Documentum 5 with BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 is designed to enable customers to increase productivity and control costs and represents the latest milestone between the two companies. Longstanding partners and leaders in their respective markets, Documentum and BEA Systems, Inc., the world’s leading application infrastructure software company, share many Global 2000 customers across all major verticals, including financial services, automotive, life sciences and telecommunications.
«BEA and Documentum have worked closely together to help our customers achieve faster time to value with leading edge, standards-based technology,» said Scott Edgington, vice president and general manager, global software partners, BEA Systems. «The certification and integration of Documentum 5 with WebLogic Platform 8.1 can reduce development time, increase developer productivity, and can simplify the production and management of custom-fit portals to help customers create highly scalable content-rich applications.»
Certifications and Integrations of Documentum 5 and BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1
BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 is based on a unified architecture that includes new versions of BEA’s application server and Java virtual machine, enterprise portal and application development framework and BEA’s integration software.
— Documentum is certified on BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 across its entire
stack of Web applications, including its Web Development Kit (WDK)
components, Webtop, Digital Asset Manager, Web Publisher, Documentum
Administrator and all other Documentum clients.
— Documentum has also completed certification with BEA WebLogic
Portal 8.1, a leading enterprise portal infrastructure for
streamlined portal development and management. This certification
includes support for the recently approved Java Specification Request
(JSR) 168 standard for portlet compatibility, and can enable customers
to take advantage of interactive, rich content services provided by the
Documentum ECM platform from leading portal frameworks, such as BEA.
— BEA and Documentum have worked together to certify a two-way
integration between Documentum 5 and WebLogic Platform 8.1. The BEA
Content Management Service Provider Interface (CM SPI), simplifies the
process of dynamically querying and personalizing content through
portals. WebLogic Workshop developers can now leverage the integration
via intuitive interfaces, easy-to-use wizards and Java Server Pages (JSP) tag libraries resulting in faster time- to-market for content-
rich portlets.
— BEA WebLogic Workshop is a simplified, extensible development
environment that is designed to enable all developers at all levels to
rapidly build standards-based, enterprise-class applications for
WebLogic Platform. Documentum and BEA have integrated WebLogic
Workshop with the Documentum Business Objects Framework to help
developers to create a set of reusable business objects and services
that can be used as pre-packaged content management functionality,
exposed within the J2EE development environment as Workshop controls,
which can significantly reduce time spent in development and testing
and providing better application portability and interoperability.
In addition, BEA and Documentum have teamed to develop a special product and services offering for smaller workgroups. The joint offering can deliver full versions of Documentum 5 and WebLogic Portal with the flexibility and affordability for smaller workgroups. This solution is designed to accelerate time to benefit for content management and portal technologies.
«With hundreds of joint customers across all verticals, Documentum and BEA continue to raise the bar in delivering integrated, best-in-class solutions that address business challenges facing global enterprises,» said Rob Tarkoff, executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Documentum. «Focusing on standards, open systems and component-based architectures, BEA and Documentum working together can provide intelligent solutions that are designed to maximize operational efficiencies, help reduce costs and enable customers, partners and employees to have seamless access to relevant content.»
