Cognos BI used to support key funding campaigns, analyze volumes of student and administrative data
BURLINGTON, Mass., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — With the largest single-campus enrollment levels and one of the largest graduate schools in the nation, The University of Texas at Austin generates vast amounts of student, academic, research, and financial data. University leaders now have a new business intelligence solution from Cognos, the world leader in enterprise business intelligence (EBI) and corporate performance management solutions, to help them gain critical insight into funding trends, research grants, academic planning processes, and fundraising initiatives.
The university has deployed Cognos EBI solutions in subject areas such as admissions, financials, human resources, research contracts and grants, capital campaign information, and facilities management. During the coming year, academic and student information will be added to the Cognos repository.

The key for the university’s BI solution is the friendly web interface, which allows executives to easily explore the information. As state funding decreases and operational costs rise, the university needs to find ways to economize, and reliably evaluate the effectiveness of cost-saving measures as they are implemented.
